grouplove // ways to go

The band Grouplove is a favorite here at The Earolology Dept. and for good reason. The band makes infectious (really no other way to describe it) music that quickly gets stuck in your frontal cortex and takes up residence. Check out the bands spanking new video for Ways To Go from the bands forthcoming Spreading Rumors LP (via Canvasback / Atlantic). You can pre-order Spreading Rumors (Deluxe) on iTunes like I just did. Peace. Continue reading “grouplove // ways to go”

cece // framework ep

In life there is both light and darkness. Where you chose to dwell is up to you. But admittedly at times we lose our way trying to make it through the labyrinth of our existence. The music of CeCe, a mere 19-year old, can help light your way. Check out her Framework EP via Quatre Femmes Records and find comfort and security (at least whilst the music plays) in this quadlection (made up word) of intimate songs. Peace. mixhell // the way + video

Ooh La La. Minha banda favorita brasileiro!

Do you smell that? Musically aromatic (electromatic?) wouldn’t you say? It’s the latest video from Mixhell. The song is titled The Way and it is directed by Rudå Cabral. This is one of many from the band’s forthcoming LP Spaces, it drops June 11th courtesy of Last Gang Records. Love the retro electro feel of this one, sounds like the B52’s and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs had a lovechild and christened it Mixhell. Peace. Continue reading “mixhell // the way + video”

capitol cities // farrah fawcett hair ft. andre 3000

Farrah Fawcett Hair is the quirky cool new track off of Capitol Cities debut album In A Tidal Wave of Mystery, it drops June 4th! The song features hip hop legend André 3000, Ms. Soul vocalist extraordinaire Shemika Secrest, NPR voice personality Frank Tavares and a whole bunch Capital Cities fans! All these distinct singulars come together to make a funky good plural. Peace. Continue reading “capitol cities // farrah fawcett hair ft. andre 3000”

loraine chia // so shy

It isn’t hard to imagine the success this young 19-year old singer/songwriter (Loraine Chia) is bound to have in the years to come. And as long as she keeps jumping our bones with sweet melodies like, Shy she’ll be just fine. I also have a soft spot for her good time, groove-heavy track Fly High. Ms. Chia definitely has a vibe all her own.  And I’m betting in 2013 she’ll rise like the sun and stars quite beautifully. Peace. Continue reading “loraine chia // so shy”

daughter // get lucky (daft punk cover)

The Daughter’s cover of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” is hands down my favorite rendition of this stellar song. But if this your introduction to the Daughter then you’re also lucky. Elena Tonra, Igor Haefeli & Remi Aguilella comprise the three member North London group and if you’ve taken a shine to bands like Florence and The Machine then Daughter will be a surefire fit. Daughter’s debut album release If You Leave is out now courtesy of 4AD and Glassnote Records. You can also get your copy on iTunes. Peace. Continue reading “daughter // get lucky (daft punk cover)”

stars in coma // cherry weekend

If sun-dappled and sombre quasi-love songs are your thing, (to some degree, this one appears to channel both Of Montreal and Tame Impala simultaneously) then take in the latest single by Stars In Coma. The single track, “Cherry Weekend,” and according to André Brorsson it, “It describes an emotionally turbulent weekend in London.” Alrighty then. The song is taken from the SIC forthcoming LP ‘Confessional Sun’ out Fall 2013. Peace. Continue reading “stars in coma // cherry weekend”
